Milky Way Flashback

Just for the fun of it, here is our very first Milky Way homepage when it was launched in early 2005. The mummy featured in the main picture is my university hostel mate Joan, with baby Shayna in her arms. Today, Joan is the mummy of three beautiful girls.

We started off displaying our clothings on a fashion dummy. Though old and slightly yellowed, the dummy is still serving Milky Way well, as our go-to-gal for all sample fittings.

The logo was designed by my best friend's husband Boedi, who did it for Milky Way for free.

Photoshoot May 2012

Mummies unite! The last photoshoot of 2012 --- featuring pieces from our year end collection --- brought together a team comprising entirely of mothers. Our model Izabella was just two weeks away from the expected date of delivery and amazed us with her remarkable energy and poise. The ladies exchanged tips on break feeding and baby care during breaks. Here's one bub we're looking forward to meeting in days to come!

Spotlight on: The Live-in-it Maternity Yoga Shorts

If there is one item that a mummy can own many pieces of, it would be our Milky Way Maternity Yoga Shorts. Yes, we've had customers coming back for more after trying on their first piece. Most would settle with two pieces, some with four pieces, and our record-breaking customer actually returned for eight pieces (and they were all for herself!).

Photoshoot - Feb 2010

When Agnes, our model, did our first photoshoot a year ago, she was barely in her first trimester of her second pregnancy. At that time, we did not know that it would be a boy, and that he would be called Toby.

Fast forward a year later.

We meet up once again for our second photoshoot, this time with 4-month-old Toby joining us in the photoshoot, together with his elder sister Sophie.

Photoshoot - Dec 2009

This time, our model is the lovely Liz, mother of 5-year-old Jia Jia. At one point, we ran out of ideas for poses and Liz jokingly suggested the golfer's pose.

A baby always sweetens things up. To that end, we got my baby Deb to join in the fun. In spite of her usual clinginess to me, Deb was very happy hanging out with Liz, sitting comfortably on her lap and taking in the scenary around her.

A Matter of Gender?

Dani seems to really enjoy bustling around the office, picking up and arranging things in place, helping me smooth away creases on the clothings as I take pictures.

Unlike her brother David who much prefers hiding himself inside the chests, losing his toy cars inside, pretending to be a pirate and generally making a mess of the place.

Can you see how different they are already?

Showroom Setting Up

I am thankful that the school holidays coincided with my setting up the showroom. This gives me more flexibility in planning my time around appointments and errands. All three kids tagged along everywhere I went. But it also meant that I had to put up with their incessant chatter and requests while I tried to get things done.

"Mummy, can this be my sword?"

"Mummy, can I go inside the cupboard?"

"Mummy, what's this?"

"Mummy, I'm HUUUUNGRY."

"Mummy, don't go back so early, we still wanna play..."

Okay. At least someone's having fun.
